Hub security
Hub authenticates triggers, selects workflows, and dispatches agents. It does not sandbox the provider process or make external text safe.

Choose daemon authority
Connecting a daemon does not grant Hub permission to run agents. Grant hub.execute when you want
Hub automations to use it. This permission allows Hub to create and continue agents, inspect their
state and timelines, configure their model, thinking, and provider permission mode, and archive or
restore workspaces on that daemon. Provider modes can include bypassing approval prompts. It also applies to existing
agents and workspaces; it is not an isolation boundary around Hub-created work.
Daemon administration, terminal control, and daemon credential permission management require separate permissions.
You can revoke hub.execute without granting Hub the ability to change its own permissions.
Treat requests as untrusted
Start with narrow provider filters:

Use from_users on external triggers. Pin GitHub to repo, Slack to workspace and channels, and Discord to guild and channels. Allowlists reduce exposure but do not make a permitted account or its text trustworthy.

${{ paseo.prompt }} contains normalized request text. Hub does not automatically add provider event context. A step that needs it must author ${{ paseo.context }} in prompt text; that opt-in materializes provider context as JSON.
Protect configuration authority
Protect push access to the repository containing the .paseo bundle. A change can select connections, daemons, working directories, complete named agents, and output capabilities.
The file boundary does not reduce authority: hub.yml owns resources, and each workflow owns one trigger and its steps. Review them as one bundle.
Keep secrets and unrelated repositories outside the selected cwd. Use a dedicated OS user, container, VM, or provider-native containment when the host boundary must be stronger than directory ownership.
Keep authority on the step that needs it
- Put

githubblock only on a step that needs GitHub. - Give classifiers no reply or repository authority.
Required output remains visible beside the provider trigger:

The declaration grants hub.reply; the prompt must tell the agent to call it. GitHub has no reply abstraction.
Use a finite classifier boundary
A classifier can reduce downstream exposure by returning a small schema. It is defense in depth, not a sandbox.

The finite enums let activation prove every environment and agent result. Runtime selection cannot introduce an unconfigured provider or merge more authority into an agent.
Provider-native controls
Hub defines no common sandbox abstraction. Put provider-owned settings in a complete named agent under .paseo/hub.yml:

Named-agent selection preserves the entire nested options object. Options are validated by the selected provider before session start. They are not inherited, patched, or merged at the step.

Provider policy does not replace OS filesystem or network isolation. Test the exact provider version and host combination you will run.
Review checklist
- The configuration repository is protected.
- Every external trigger has narrow resource and sender filters.
- Each environment points at the smallest useful working directory.
- Dynamic environment and agent authority has finite choices.
- Named agent options match the selected provider and remain complete.
- Reply and GitHub authority appears only on the step that uses it.
- Prompts distinguish instructions,
